In pearl grading, black pearls are second only to golden pearls, placing their source nacre—black MOP—at a similarly high grade.

Due to their rarity and exceptional beauty, black pearls form under rare and precise environmental conditions, exhibiting intense overtones and body color that is difficult to replicate. The nacre that produces them—black mother-of-pearl—is thicker, more lustrous, and more colorful than standard white nacre, making it highly desirable in luxury jewelry.

Only the top 1% of cultivated mother-of-pearl meets our strict standards for engraving:
